Compile errors
Query syntax errors, POS-literal conflicts, invalid options, empty analyses, and exceeded plan limits require changing the query or options.
A required resource capability can surface during compile, but boundary policy is not silently weakened.
Resource errors
Missing files, the 128 MiB limit, and failures in magic, schema, version, source identity, section digest, or payload graphs remain distinct.
kfind --check-data validates installed resources without searching.
I/O errors
Metadata, open, read, decode, and output-write failures identify the source path. Permission errors never become no-match results.
Locale changes explanatory text only; error class, paths, and option tokens remain stable.
